ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL
HOURS:  8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. Students may enter the building at 8:20 a.m. and are not permitted into the building before 8:20 a.m.; there is no supervision for students arriving before 8:20 a.m. who are not enrolled in the YMCA before-care program.

Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 8:30 a.m. Students are to report directly to the school office accompanied by a parent/guardian.
 
Students are not permitted inside school after dismissal unless they are attending a school-related activity.  The Phoenixville YMCA provides on-site before and after care.  Please visit the YMCA website for more information.

ATTENDANCE
Parent(s)/guardian(s) are requested to call the school when their child is absent or late to school. However, a written or e-mailed note must be delivered to school following your child’s absence.
Each note must include:  
Student’s name 
Date of absence 
Date returned to school 
Teacher’s name 
Reason for absence 
Signature of parent(s)/guardian(s) 

If a child misses 10 or more lawful days of school, a written note from a doctor is required. 

ABSENCES DUE TO FAMILY TRIP/VACATION:  Absences due to a family trip/vacation, without prior written notification, are unexcused absences. All school work must be completed within three (3) school days upon returning to school.

Available assignments will be provided for absences due to family trip/vacation. Assessments will not be administered prior to absences due to a family trip/vacation.
 
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY:  Students must have a written note for early dismissal. Identification may be required for pick-up. The note must include: 
Student‘s full name and grade 
Specific reason for the early dismissal  
Time at which the student is to be dismissed 
Parent or guardian‘s name and signature 
Phone number where the parent or guardian may be reached for verification of the note

5 or more absences will be addressed by the District’s Home and School Liaison.  

SCHOOL-WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT (SWPBS)
Each elementary school utilizes a School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS) framework to model, teach, and reinforce appropriate social and behavioral norms. 

Manavon Elementary’s SWPBS framework is “ME’s 3 B’s.” This stands for “Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible.” Students who exemplify these qualities are recognized with “compliment” or “golden compliment” tokens.

HEALTHY CLASSROOM PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS
Parties are limited to the Fall Celebration, the Winter Party, and Valentine’s Day. The Fall Celebration will be held on or around October 31st. There will be no parades or costumes. Classroom parties will be organized around the fall theme. 
These parties are scheduled late in the afternoon and are organized by homeroom parents and supervised by the teacher. School staff and parent(s)/guardian(s) are encouraged to include healthy food offerings.

SAFETY/VISITOR INFORMATION
All visitors are required to report immediately to the school office upon entering the school. Only the front entrance is to be used.  All visitors must be buzzed in and present photo identification in order to secure a badge (visitor, volunteer, etc.) from the office. Doors are locked for security.
 
Photo identification will be scanned into the Raptor System, which will deny entry any individual who is deemed potentially unsafe. A Temporary Visitor Identification Badge will be generated and the visitor will be permitted entry beyond the main office. No personal information is shared with anyone. 

Manavon Elementary maintains a “peanut-free” table during all lunches to ensure the safety of all of our students.  

SCHOOL CLOSING/LATE OPENING INFORMATION
Families will be informed of school closings or delayed openings on the PASD website, PASD social media accounts, the school district phone messaging Skylert system, and local Philadelphia radio and television stations. This information will be carried on broadcasts beginning at 6:00 a.m. The school number used by the radio stations is 856.

SCHEDULING
Manavon Elementary offers a varied and robust curriculum for students.  We educate the “whole child” at Manavon as evidenced by the below scheduling framework: 
45 minutes for “Special”—Music, Art, PE/Health, Library, World Language (Spanish)
30 minutes for Lunch
30 minutes for Recess
30 minutes for RtII time (ELA intervention/growth opportunity)
Dedicated daily blocks for English/Language Arts, Math, and “Content” (Social Studies and Science)
